Writers Roost is the creative writing community for the outlaw in all of us.

To quote Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, “Nobody knows anything.” This community isn’t for anyone who has it together (though you’re welcome to hang out). It’s for those of us making it up as we go along. Whether you’re an aspiring writer, a writer who chronically procrastinates, or just someone looking for a bit of guidance - this is for you.

You can expect advice I’ve gathered through the years, different ways of thinking about writing principles, explorations of topics you might find useful or inspiring, and some good ol’ fashioned pep talks. Let’s do it.

What’s the point?

Writers Roost is named after Robbers Roost, the famous hideout of Butch Cassidy and his gang of outlaws. Robbers Roost was a place to rest and lay low from the law. In a world where we’re pulled in so many different directions in our daily lives, why not create a hideout where we can lay low from the troubles that so often sap our creative energies?

This hideout is in its infancy, meaning there might not be much to look at. But feel free to join us and as we grow, the offerings will too. For now, we’ve got a newsletter, a Discord server, and a Twitch stream.

Writers Roost is curated by the indie author, Jacob Ethan Gibson.
